Shinhan Bank has received a government commendation for its efforts to attract foreign investment to South Korea, supported by dedicated consulting services and digital banking solutions for foreign companies.
The bank said Wednesday it received a ministerial commendation at the 2026 Foreign Company Day ceremony, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy at Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas on Tuesday.
The annual event recognizes companies and institutions that contribute to the Korean economy by attracting foreign direct investment, or FDI, and supporting the return of overseas businesses.
Shinhan Bank has expanded its FDI services through Shinhan FDI Partners, a dedicated unit offering investment consulting and marketing support. It also operates specialized FDI desks in major Seoul business districts, including Gangnam, Gangbuk and Yeouido, to provide financial assistance to foreign-invested companies.
In 2025, the bank handled approximately 1,500 FDI filings and attracted $4.15 billion in foreign currency funds.
To streamline cross-border transactions, Shinhan introduced a SWIFT-based MT101 service that allows overseas headquarters to remotely initiate fund transfers from their Korean bank accounts.
In June, it also launched a dedicated FDI escrow service designed to improve the security of investment-related fund transfers.
"This award recognizes our efforts to establish dedicated support systems and tailored financial solutions for foreign-invested companies," a Shinhan Bank official said.
"We will continue to expand FDI services and digital financial solutions to attract more foreign investment to South Korea."
